How to Import a Virtual Machine into vCenter Server Inventory

 

 

The following steps will show you how to import the VMware Data Recovery virtual appliance.

  1. In vCenter Server inventory, select your ServerVMS folder.
  2. In vSphere Client menu bar, select File > Deploy OVF Template. The Deploy OVF Template wizard appears.
  3. When prompted by the Deploy OVF Template wizard, do the following:
    1. Enter path to virtual appliance OVF file and click Browse. Select the OVF file in the folder. Click Next. (Source)
    2. Click Next. (OVF Template Details)
    3. Type VDR-## (## is your ESXI host number). (Name)
    4. The ServerVMs folder is selected.
    5. Expand inventory and select your ESXi host and click Next. (Host/Cluster)
    6. Select datastore for virtual appliance import. (Datastore)
    7. Keep default Disk Format.
    8. Keep default Network Mapping.
    9. Keep default Properties.
    10. Click Finish. (Ready to Complete)
  4. Wait for deployment to complete. A pop-up window shows the status of deployment process. Click Close when deployment has completed.
