How to Disable a Windows 8 Device
To disable a Windows 8 device:
1. Choose Start > Control Panel > Hardware And Sound > Device Manager or type device manager in the search box on the Start menu.
2. Click the triangle next to the category you’re concerned with to expand the item list.
3. Right-click the hardware item and select Properties. Select Disable directly from the context menu if you want.
4. Select the Driver tab.
5. Click the Disable button (a toggle button; if the device is enabled, it will say Disable or if the device is disabled, then it will say Enable.
The device will be disabled and function no longer. In the Device Manager, a down arrow appears on the item, and the device is shown as disabled on General tab.
